    … before Unilever does. It was bound to happen. In all our marketeer enthusiasm around the Dove campaign for real beauty, we forgot that it’s advertising in the end. Although close to perfection (to quote my own enthusiasm), it’s advertising. Bummer and this spoof painfully points that out.

    Dove is a brand underneath umbrella brand Unilever and for some of their other brands (like Axe) Unilever marketeers prefer beautiful people … really beautiful people. By more or less attacking other advertisers (without showing brands) in the Onslaught clip, they left the door wide open for this reaction. Although the consumer doesn’t know Unilever and Unilever is marketing perfectly on the target groups of their different brands, this spoof painfully points out that the intentions of the people behind Dove are not that noble at all … it’s advertising on target with a damn good concept!
