Art2Bodrum

Art2blog is going on holidays for 1 week to Bodrum. We’ll be back on October 4th. In mean time don’t stop reading our favourite colleagues. If you still have some holidays planned, check out Fasten Seatbelts where you can find the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the country you’re visiting.

We will certainly remember that:

  • In Turkey, it is rude to show the sole of your shoe.
  • In Turkey, the “OK” sign is very rude.
  • In Turkey, in crowded busses (Dolmus), the way to pay for your ticket is to pass the money from passenger to passenger towards the bus driver.
  • In various countries, you may be asked to remove your shoes before entering a home.

  • We moved…

The last few days it has been quiet…well…now you know why. I moved our blog to my own hosting.http://www.art2blog.be is the place to be now…I’ll make some more changes the coming days on the design but all credits go to Design Disease which created this great 3 column wordpress theme. Furthermore you don’t have to change your rss feed address, that stayed the same (http://feeds.feedburner.com/art2blog)!

    Hope you enjoy…

  • MyFootballClub

Amazing way of using the social web. MyFootballClub.com is a community site that wanted to buy a soccer team. Members could sign-up for only 35 GBP (52 EUR – 71 USD) and can pick a team of their choice. The initiative started early May and they needed 50.000 members to buy a club.

    MyFootballClub

End July they reached their target and they are now in talks with 4 clubs! Topping the members’ list are renomated clubs like Leeds and Nottingham Forest. Once a team is acquired members will be able to vote on crucial matters such as team formation, tactics and substitutions.

I hope they really make it interactive with fans voting during the match for players that need to come on or go off. Maybe an idea for a Telco operator to become shirtsponsor and launch a MyFootballClub branded product. Would be the first user-generated soccer team ever …

  • Attention: Ignore Quechup Invites!

Received several mails from contacts to join their social network on the Quechup site. Ignore these! Don’t know what the final plan is, but once you register the engine behind the site proposes to import online contacts from your webmail account like Hotmail, Gmail, … once imported all these get a mail from you inviting to join Quechup again. Pure spam with hopefully no other harmful intentions (viruses?) behind.

  • Ambition 2 become a journalist?

Belgian press agency Belga probably sees future journalists in the many online bloggers our country has. They just launched a campaign to win an internship as journalist.

The campaign uses radio, TV and online media. Call-to-action is the campaign site www.ikwordjournalist.be. On the site you get, in a nice Flash animation, a real-time time-line of news facts edited by the Belga news desk. You can cover these news facts through an audio- or video report that get’s screened by the same Belga news desk. Once approved the coverage is put online on the site for others to view. The best journalists stand a chance at the internship.

Nice hiring campaign, very 2.0, nice Flash interface by Group94. Too bad they didn’t put some Easter egg on the grammatically wrong URL www.ikwordtjournalist.be :/)
